Winter in the Mid-Hudson Valley is quiet but offers so many things to do.
When we have snow (and that is most of the time), the grounds across the street from the Inn at the Vanderbilt estate are great for snowshoeing. If you love the outdoors in the Winter, the Hyde Park trail is always open for those who love to trek through snow.
Winter is a great time to take in the National Parks and their indoor excitement. Open everyday except New Years, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, you can always find them open in the winter. Take your time and linger in the FDR museum and library after your tour of his home, Springwood. Then drive a few miles to Eleanor's home, Val-Kill. Then take a tour of the Vanderbilt Estate before your snow hiking begins.
Nothing better than winter at the Culinary Institute of America. Fine dining in a grand space. Oh, and take a cooking class while you're here. A great indoor activity and a wonderful way to meet folks from all over the world who love to cook like you do.
Hi, we are Valerie Valente and Eric Miller, owners of the Journey Inn Bed & Breakfast. After a lifetime in Brooklyn Heights, NY, we so enjoyed our own excursions to the beautiful Hudson Valley, we decided to make it our home – and to share with others our love for this wonderful part of the world. We are fortunate to also have Val’s parents, Victor and Victoria here to help us show you a warm and welcoming stay in our beloved Inn. We can’t wait to meet you.
